Our Story
Jilly’s Ale House is a family-owned restaurant in Pikesville, MD with a story shaped by hard work, loyal customers, live music, Baltimore sports, and a community that refused to let its neighborhood gathering place disappear.
Built for Pikesville & Baltimore, MD
In 1984, Scott Reich saw the potential in Roger’s Taproom, a familiar local bar on Reisterstown Road. He purchased the business with a clear vision: create a place where people could relax, enjoy a cold drink, catch up with neighbors, and feel welcome from the moment they walked through the door.
One year later, Scott remodeled the space and gave it a new identity: Jilly’s. What began as a bar soon grew into something more. The menu expanded, the kitchen became a bigger part of the experience, and Jilly’s developed into the family-owned bar and restaurant Pikesville, MD residents could count on for a great meal, game day, or night out with friends.
In 1986, live bands joined the mix. Weekend music brought new energy to the room and helped turn Jilly’s into one of those rare places where generations of guests could share the same memories. Friends met at the bar, families came for dinner, local musicians found a stage, and Baltimore sports fans found a home base.
More Than a Neighborhood Bar
Over the years, Jilly’s became a familiar part of life in Pikesville. We grew because our guests kept showing up—for crab dip, burgers, wings, cold beer, local bands, trivia, and the big games that bring everyone together. More importantly, they came for the relationships built across the bar and around the table.
As a family-owned restaurant in Pikesville, MD, we have always believed the neighborhood comes first. Jilly’s is not built around one kind of customer or one kind of night. It is a place for longtime regulars, families, coworkers, first dates, post-game celebrations, and anyone looking for a comfortable place to settle in.
Baltimore sports have always been part of our story, too. From Ravens Sundays to Orioles games and every big moment in between, Jilly’s has given fans a place to cheer together. The food, the TVs, the crowd, and the familiar faces all create the kind of game-day atmosphere that feels personal—not packaged.
Fire Could Not Stop Us
On October 28, 2020, a devastating fire destroyed Jilly’s. It was one of the hardest days in our history. The building was gone, but the heart of Jilly’s was not.
The calls, messages, donations, and support from Pikesville made one thing clear: this community wanted Jilly’s back. Our employees, guests, neighbors, local supporters, and the Baltimore Ravens stood with us. That support gave us the strength to rebuild, not somewhere else, but right here where our story belongs.
On Thursday, August 26, 2021, Jilly’s reopened at 11:00 a.m. next door to the original location at 1010–1012 Reisterstown Road. We purchased the adjacent former Brendali’s building to create more indoor space, while transforming the original burned site into an outdoor patio. The new Jilly’s honored what came before while giving the next chapter room to grow.
Still Family-Owned, Still Jilly’s
Today, Jilly’s remains a family-owned restaurant in Pikesville, MD, proudly serving great food, cold drinks, Baltimore sports, live music, and the community that carried us through. We have changed, expanded, rebuilt, and grown—but the reason we are here remains the same: to give Pikesville a place that feels like its own.
